WellCare Named a “Most Admired” Company by Fortune Magazine

By Kenneth A. Burdick

This month, Fortune published its “World’s Most Admired Companies” list for 2018, which recognizes those companies with the strongest corporate reputations.

This is the first year WellCare has been named to this prestigious list.

Recognition is a tremendous honor. The title is given based on feedback from top executives, directors and financial analysts based on criteria, including investment value, quality of management and social responsibility, among others.

It is also a testament to the talent, dedication and hard work of our nearly 9,000 associates who day in and day out help our members live better, healthier lives. Our associates’ strong mission to serve—both our members and the communities in which they live—is exemplified by not only their work but their philanthropic spirit. In 2017, more than 6,000 associates, along with their families and friends, spent nearly 24,000 hours at hundreds of volunteer events across the country. Our corporate volunteer rate was approximately 75 percent—more than double the national average.

Finally, it’s proof that our model works. For more than 30 years, WellCare has served families, children, seniors and individuals with complex medical needs. We offer an integrated model of care, which addresses the whole person, beyond just healthcare, to get our members the right care and the right services when they need it most. Because we believe understanding these challenges is key to improving the health of our members and our communities.

I am proud to be part of a team that strives to be the best in the industry and the work we have done to produce operational and clinical excellence, higher quality, growth in our Medicaid and Medicare businesses, and rewarding opportunities for our associates.

I am also excited and energized to continue bringing innovative services and solutions to our members, providers, government partners and the communities we serve.
